Happy Holidays

Happy Holidays from all of us at Teenreads.com. Many of you have just started your break; others will be getting out of school in the next couple of days. We can imagine you are breathing a huge sigh of relief about this --- and then feverishly running around to get last minute shopping and holiday preparations done.

Once things calm down, we have lots of books to keep you occupied over your break. And a GREAT contest where you can win copies of LIFE OF PI for you and 9 friends to start your own book club. And our monthly polls and questions to answer...and Word of Mouth where we'd like to hear what you are reading.

We wanted to share a link to our annual holiday card. This year the card is titled: 2004 is a Wrap, and you can get to it by clicking on the link below.

Have a Happy and Peaceful New Year. We'll see you next year!!!

LIFE OF PI Reading Group Guide
When sixteen-year-old Pi Patel finds himself stranded in a lifeboat in the middle of the Pacific Ocean with only a menacing 450-pound Bengal tiger for company, he quickly realizes that the only way to survive is to make sure the tiger is more afraid of him than he is of it. With over one million copies in print, LIFE OF PI has become a modern classic, combining the best sort of storytelling with a profound exploration of ageless themes: faith and truth, man versus nature, innocence and experience.

THE JANE AUSTEN BOOK CLUB

Have you and your friends ever thought about starting a book club? How about starting a Jane Austen Book Club? Given the success of the bestseller THE JANE AUSTEN BOOK CLUB, by Karen Joy Fowler, we're sharing with book clubs what they need to make this happen. Each month between now and April, we will publish a discussion guide that Fowler has written expressly for book clubs for one of the six Jane Austen titles mentioned in the book. This month's selection is SENSE AND SENSIBILITY. Last month was EMMA. Next month is MANSFIELD PARK.

Books Into Movies

A good story can be told and re-told, and the proof is in the number of fall movies that are based on books this year. They include Lemony Snicket's A Series of Unfortunate Events and Christmas With the Kranks (inspired by John Grisham's 2002 novel SKIPPING CHRISTMAS). If you're in the mood for the original, click on the Amazon link beneath the film headings and check out the books. See you at the movies!
