Late July 2007

In households across the country this past week, this phrase is being uttered: "Did you finish it yet?" You know exactly what we mean. Everyone around my house was racing to read HARRY POTTER AND THE DEATHLY HALLOWS the weekend it came out, and they seemed to be racing to see how it ended. I confess that I am reading this book slowly, so if any of you still are reading, or your children still are reading, do know you have company! I have told my husband and sons that they cannot tell me how it ends, which means there is lots of whispering going on around our house as they talk about what happens.

Last Monday night we started a major renovation at the office as we are taking over the space next to ours. This entailed our staff packing everything we own into two rooms and moving home to work for the duration of this project. You can imagine how much fun this was. At the moment I am working out of one of those rooms with my son Greg, who is with us this summer.

"Are you done yet?" You know what I am talking about. Have you finished HARRY POTTER AND THE DEATHLY HALLOWS? From what we are seeing, MANY of you have finished it already. Thus we have a new poll running on our Harry Central feature asking which book is your favorite. I have not yet finished it, as I am making it a more leisurely read. My husband and sons HAVE finished it, and thus I make them whisper or leave the room when they talk about it. You can read our review here, and you can see the results of our last Harry Potter Poll here.

The promise, as I remember it, happened this way.

And so begins Cork O’Connor’s tale of a hopeless love affair between a young Ojibwe guide and a white woman, an affair that ended in treachery, betrayal, and murder.

Gee, but it's great to be back home! I love to travel, but after weeks of traveling around, I love getting back into a routine around the house again. Luckily I had my sons with me on many of my trips this summer. They both are avid readers and thus enjoy getting out to meet authors as much as me.

Harry Harry Harry. I am wondering if there is anyone who does not know that the latest Harry Potter book comes out tonight at midnight! The boys and I are off to celebrate this very special release at a party at Borders' Columbus Circle location just a few blocks from our office that starts tonight at 9. Yes, we are very caught up in Harry Potter fever! I blog about Harry and my thoughts about him here. The boys each have their Light Wedges ready to go so they can read on the way home; in fact, Cory has a special Harry Potter edition. Happy reading.
