Ever have one of those days where you just felt invisible? Well, Charlotte Usher of Tonya Hurley's ghostgirl books is having one of those days... or rather, lifetimes. In LOVESICK, the third installment of the series, Charlotte's last task at "Dead Ed" --- before she can finally move on and RIP --- is to return to the high school where she died, and help a designated teen sort out a personal problem in time for the Prom.  Easy enough, right? Just her luck, her "project" happens to be her former crush, Damon.

Sixteen-year-old Gemma is on layover at Bangkok Airport, en route with her parents to a vacation in Vietnam. She steps away for just a second, to get a cup of coffee. Ty --- rugged, tan, too old, oddly familiar --- pays for Gemma's drink. And drugs it. They talk. Their hands touch. And before Gemma knows what's happening, Ty takes her. Steals her away. The unknowing object of a long obsession, Gemma has been kidnapped by her stalker and brought to the desolate Australian Outback.

Then her fiancé falls on the battlefield, leaving her heartbroken and alone. Jennie struggles to pick up the pieces of her shattered life, but is haunted by a mysterious figure that refuses to let her bury the past.

Countdown by Deborah Wiles

It’s 1962, and it seems the whole country is living in fear. When President Kennedy goes on television to say that Russia is sending nuclear missiles to Cuba, it only gets worse. Eleven-year-old Franny Chapman doesn’t know how to deal with what’s going on in the world --- no more than she knows how to deal with what’s going on with her family and friends. But somehow she’s going to make it through.

In Maggie Stiefvater's SHIVER, Grace and Sam found each other. Now, in LINGER, they must fight to be together. This second installment in the Wolves of Mercy Falls trilogy is a spellbinding love story that explores both sides of love --- the light and the dark, the warm and the cold.

I have decided that reading is a sport for any weather. This week the temperatures in New York spiked somewhere around 103, and thus turning pages indoors won out over a lot of outdoor activities, though floating in an oversized tube in the pool was pretty nice, too. I still want someone to calculate how many pages one needs to turn to shed one pound --- and how fast one needs to turn them. I do think reading is my favorite sport --- think of the exercise that my mind gets from it!
